The Workshop will cover a range of topics in the area of nanomaterials, ranging from the design, to the synthesis, to the characterization of structure and properties and finally to their integration in devices. Both experimental and theoretical aspects will be discussed.
Emphasis will be given to new two-dimensional nanomaterials, as well as quantum dots and nanowires. These systems are being increasingly used in applications such as electronic and photonic devices, biomedical technologies and sensors. The Workshop aims at bringing together an outstanding and diverse group of scientists at the forefront of research on nanomaterials, with an interdisciplinary point of view. Researchers and students are encouraged to present posters on their activities.
The Workshop stems from a bilateral project funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAECI) on the study of surface confined polymerization and it is organized by the Institute for the Structure of Matter – CNR and Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique – INRS, jointly with the Embassy of Italy in Canada.
The Opening Keynote lecture will be given by Professor John C. Polanyi from the University of Toronto, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry (1986).
